Loss and Grief Counselling
Loss is something everyone experiences, but grief looks different for each of us. It can follow the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, the loss of a dream, or a change in health or ability. Grief does not fade on a strict timetable — it stays the same size while life slowly grows around it.
Many myths surround grief:
Ignoring the pain will make it go away faster.
We must be strong and hide our emotions.
Not crying means you are not grieving.
Grief must be “over” within a year.
Moving forward means forgetting the person or the loss.
Children don’t truly experience grief.
In counselling, you have a safe, compassionate space to feel your emotions, honour your loss, and learn how to live alongside it. True healing comes from allowing yourself to grieve fully, discovering meaning in the absence, and gradually finding joy and connection again. You don’t have to carry this alone — support is here when you’re ready.
