Anticipatory grief
Anticipatory grief is the sadness and worry we feel before a loss occurs, often when a loved one is living with a serious illness such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease. These conditions gradually change who they are, how they move, and how they remember, and can mean having to say many “good-byes” over time — to the person they were, to shared routines, or to memories that fade. In counselling, you can safely explore these complex feelings, process each stage of loss, and find ways to connect and create meaning even as your loved one’s life changes.
